It will only make you angry

If power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutelyso how would you describe the people who control the electricity that lights up your homes and businesses every day and night?

And how would you describe them if they took $456 million in “grid modernization” charges – which seems like a necessity for the power system infrastructure – and not spent your money on much-needed modernization?

In fact, what if they didn’t account at all for how they spent your money?

the Ohio Consumer Council wants the holders of absolute power to FirstEnergy pay $1.5 billion in penalties for doing this.

The 17-year-old arrested in Saturday night’s hit-and-run that killed a 5-year-old girl in Cleveland faces aggravated charges of homicide while driving a vehicle. The teenage driver did not have a driving license and fled after hitting the child, who flew between parked cars and then ran over her.

  • Apolina Asumani’s grandmother in a wheelchair watched helplessly as the girl was crushed. Asumani died in hospital.
  • While the driver did not have a license, Cleveland police say she had a gun and threatened her passenger, who urged her to stop. The driver was wanted on multiple warrants.
