Opa! Celebrate your inner Greek at the Greek Festival
The 48th Annual St. Barbara Greek Festival will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Toms River. Parking is at Ocean County College and there will be shuttles to and from the festival. Eat Greek pastries, go shopping, enjoy music. Read more.
The Shamrocks by the Sea event takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Seaside Park and supports the annual Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Irish Festival will be held on the Marina Lawn at Central Avenue and J Street. There will be Irish dancers, food, beer and music including performances from Shamrock & Thistle Pipes & Drums. The Cheap Thrills Motorcycle Show and Swap Seaside will run from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Bay Avenue parking lot. There will be motorcycles on display, a “massive swap” and vendors, minibike races, a poolside party and live music all weekend long. Read more.
Immerse yourself in the comics
The Jersey Shore Comic Book Show returns to the Toms River Elks Lodge at 600 Washington St. in Toms River. It is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday and will feature many vendors offering comics, graphic novels, toys, non-sports and sports cards, pokemon, yu-gi-ho, anime, manga, action figures, funko pops, collectibles, and more. There will also be freelance artists and comic writers with artwork, prints and books for sale. The 501st Star Wars Legion will be there with assault soldiers, Darth Vader and other Star War characters, as well as the Saber Guild, which will offer saber combat lessons to young people and anyone interested. There will be a sign-up sheet at their table. Admission is $ 3 and children 12 and under are free. There is no early admission. Read more.
Walk to fight Alzheimer’s disease
Alzheimer’s New Jersey is hosting its 2021 Alzheimer’s Walk on Saturday at Point Pleasant Beach. Funds raised support New Jersey families through Alzheimer’s programs and services in New Jersey. Registration for the walk begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Walk Headquarters on Arnold and Baltimore Avenues, with the 2.5 mile walk along Ocean Avenue and the Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk starting at 10 a.m. There will be an opening ceremony at 9:30 am.
