Duo behind ‘large number’ of motorbike and moped thefts in Nuneaton

A duo are believed to be behind a ‘large number’ of motorcycle and moped thefts across Nuneaton. Nuneaton and Bedworth Neighborhood Watch say there has been a spike in thefts and attempted vehicle thefts across the city.

Willing crime fighters say motorcycles and mopeds of all shapes and sizes – from 50cc peds up to 1000cc sport bikes – have been targeted. They say there have been a “large number” of incidents in recent days.

The volunteers say two men, both normally wearing tracksuits, are believed to be behind the thefts. They say that in some incidents they have been seen on bicycles or motorbikes.

Neighborhood watch volunteers say they have sometimes been spotted beforehand on reconnaissance trips and then return later with equipment to cut padlocks and chains. “At this time, the best defense is to keep your bike off site, either in a garage or at the back of your property,” a message on the group’s Facebook page.

“Please call 999 if you see anyone who might be tempted to steal a motorbike.” Details can also be passed to officers via the independent charity Crimestoppers, which is free and confidential, on 0800 555 111.
