Hot Rods and Muscle Cars Galore at State Fair Park This Weekend

Yakima State Fair Park will be a busy spot this weekend with hundreds of cars on display during the 47th Vintiques National Auto Show, which runs Thursday through Sunday.

The annual Vintiques Gathering draws members from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Over 600 custom and muscle cars and vendors are driving the valley this week with thousands expected to attend the show. Most of the cars are on display for the show, but some are for sale. The show also provides a chance for those who build cars to obtain needed rare parts that cannot be found anywhere else during the annual Vintiques Swap meeting.

The spectacle is more than just a static spectacle. Many events for members take place throughout the weekend, but also for the public. On Friday night, it’s hot rod races under the lights of the Renegade Raceway. On Saturday, an off-road challenge is planned. This is the second largest event held at the fairgrounds and brings in over $ 1,000,000 in tourist money to the community over its 4 days. The number one event is the Central Washington State Fair.

A press release says Vintiques is a non-profit charitable organization in Yakima that promotes the hobby of car collectors and raises funds for organizations such as Children’s Wishes and Dreams and Rods House. They also sponsor several scholarships such as the YVC Automobile Scholarship which offers scholarships to students of the YVA automobile program.
The 47th Vintiques National Auto Show is open to the public at Yakima State Fair Park. The show will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
