LeFleur’s Bluff Playground opens in December


JACKSON, Mississippi (WJTV) – A new state-of-the-art playground will open at LeFleur’s Bluff education and tourism complex on Friday, December 10, 2021. The complex is the campus shared between the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and the Mississippi Children’s Museum.

“Outdoor experiences develop visuospatial skills, enhance observation and creativity, improve concentration, and improve motor and imaginative abilities,” said Angel Rohnke, manager of LeFleur’s Bluff.

The playground will feature 80 play activities, including 73 features for children with accessibility needs. A personalized We-Go-Swing will allow accessibility for children with and without a wheelchair.

The playground will also be divided into different play areas depending on age, for children aged six months to 12 years.

“All of the playground structures encourage physical activity – whether it’s providing more freedom for running, jumping and climbing, or reducing stress levels,” said Emily Hoff, executive director of the playground. Mississippi Children’s Museum.

Starting December 10, LeFleur’s Bluff will be open seven days a week (Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday: 1 to 5 p.m. ). in both museums. Entrance to the park is free and open to the public.
