Marquette Art Week Coming Soon | News, Sports, Jobs


MARQUETTE — The town of Marquette is organizing Art Week 2022 from June 20 to 25. Events will take place primarily along the waterfront trail and in public waterfront parks.

This year’s theme is water, according to a city press release. There are several calls for proposals for community artworks and projects. A full list of current opportunities is available on MQTcompass.com under “Creative Classifieds”. The descriptions and due dates of calls currently open are listed below:

“Inspired by water” – works of art created by the community presented at City Hall as part of a summer exhibition. Open to all ages, all mediums.

“What Water Wants To Be” – Ore Dock Brewing Co. is hosting a popup art exhibit and Wednesday night event featuring environmentally inspired art in all mediums. Registrations must be dropped off by Wednesday at the Marquette Arts and Culture Center. All works must be ready to hang.

≤ Fresh Coast Plein Art Painting Festival — Pre-registration is now open for the fifth annual event. Painters of all skill levels are invited to participate in the festival, which invites artists to paint scenes and landscapes inspired by Marquette’s landscape and outdoor residents. Pre-register online before June 23.

≤ Wednesday Art Market – The Marquette Downtown Development Authority Farmers’ Market is hosting a craft market on June 22. Rolling applications are available at www.mqtfarmersmarket.com
