Martha Kay (Shepard) Beacham | Port City Daily

LELAND – Martha Kay Shepard Beacham of Leland passed away peacefully of her earthly life on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Novant Medical New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Wilmington, daughter of Walter Frederick Shepard and Meda Morton Shepard.

Martha is survived by her husband, Edward F. Beacham; daughters, Debbie Krause and her husband, Dean and Beverly McKeithan and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Justin Krause (Amber), Brian Krause (Ali), Jay McKeithan, Bobby McKeithan, Jenny Speaker (Joe) and Brandy McKeithan; twenty great-grandchildren, stepchildren, Edward F. Beacham, Jr. (Candi), Richard D. Beacham (Angela), Vicki Beacham and Mark F. Beacham (Angela); many other extended family members and dear friends.

She was a longtime faithful member of Leland’s First Baptist Church, and in recent years has been a member of Riley’s Creek Baptist Church.

Martha was an extraordinary lady of God whose resounding faith and love for family was unmatched. Its brilliantly shining light often served as a guide to those around it. Those who knew Martha will always remember her passion for growing beautiful flower-vegetables, cooking for those she loved, caring for her horses, and her love of God’s outdoor nature. In years past, Martha was even known to ride a Harley motorcycle. She physically helped to build a house, even to lay bricks. Martha was a people collector, making unrelated people feel like family. She was a true example of what it meant to be a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. We will forever miss her presence in our lives, but we find comfort in knowing that she is at peace and rejoicing with her Almighty Father.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in Fellowship Hall at Riley’s Creek Baptist Church with a memorial service beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Reverend Art Sauer will lead the service.

Martha’s favorite scripture was:

What shall we say of these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
