Motorcycle and scooter thefts increase in Chester and Ellesmere Port

A WARNING has been issued following a wave of motorcycle and scooter thefts in the Chester and Ellesmere Port area.

Police urge owners to be vigilant after the theft of seven vehicles between October 11 and November 15.

Sgt. Andy Griffiths, Motorcycle Unit, said: “As officers investigate the thefts, we urge residents to be vigilant and increase vehicle safety as much as possible.

“We recommend that you keep the vehicle in a secure garage, shed or outbuilding with good security measures such as lighting, ground anchors and CCTV when parked at night.

“When you are on the move, always try to park in well-lit areas with CCTV coverage if possible.

“Secure the bikes to a sturdy object such as a post or wall using a high quality chain through a wheel or part of the frame of the bike and use a secondary security device such as a disc lock .

“We also recommend keeping the vehicle under a cover when parked.

“It is also important that you report any suspicious behavior in your area to the police.”
