Motorcycle taxis reportedly raise fares at Bangkok’s Bang Sue station

Yesterday, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Police Damrongsak Kittipraphat said motorcycle gangs were offering people attempting to use the parking lot at Bangkok’s Bang Sue Station with exorbitantly expensive rides.

Damrongsak says the duplicate drivers claimed the parking lot was full and then offered people rides at inflated fares. The commander said they had made several arrests because of the rising prices of the trips. Police also allege that the bikers use “bad words”, including swear words. They provided no example of what such profanity was.

It was not reported how many passengers were overcharged.

The Ministry of Land Transport has been called in to help sort out the problem.

Bang Sue police say to use the underground parking lot.

On July 18, Thailand’s National Railway Company suggested that a security fort be erected in the area. In addition, security guards should monitor the area to prevent motorcycle taxis from driving passengers into the area.
