Video Review for Transformers Legacy Core Class Wave 1 with Weapon Suit Wave

Thanks to some posts from Seibertronains Carter79 and chuckdawg1999, we have some video reviews for the latest Transformers Legacy base class figures. These reviews focus on the Core class for Wave 1, with Carter79 giving us a long look at Iguanus, arguably the most anticipated figure in the base Wave 1 class. Then we move on to our old buddy chuck, who shows us all of Wave 1 Hot Rod, Iguanus and Skywarp with their schtick d combined arms.

Check out the reviews below and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

All in all, not an impressive start. On a positive note, Iguanus is a pretty good figure and hopefully more people should be able to find Hot Rod now. Skywarp is fine, but I’m disappointed with the lack of arm blasters that are Seeker standard. The combined sword is one thing, but I don’t see many people using it. Overall, after seeing the rest of Wave 01, I think Legacy can only go up from here.

Yeah, I don’t really understand why people think more combinators should be made like this in the future. It only “works” (cautiously optimistic) with Menasor because he had that look at the cartoon and Motormaster has the trailer to help him pull it off. There’s really no need for other combiners to do this or the built-in volume to pull it off. What do you take from Silverbolt to achieve this? This really should be unique, save the Commander class next year for something else. I’m still rooting for Magnaboss and Tripredacus, if TM2 Megatron can be a leader, so can Tigerhawk.

I do not think so same Menasor should be done that way. The trailer turning into a torso rather than Motormaster as a cab doing it or Motormaster as a semi-subscale? That, I could take care of. But go UW-Onslaugh-but-even-dumber and duplicate animation incompetence where it’s not even a real combinator anymore (especially since the actual character model did it right even though the motion animation often did not)? It’s trash and it belongs in the trash.

As for the next Commander class, I’m more hoping that A. Overlord will be better sized and have the full base mode instead of the watered down TR shadow, B. Optimus Prime to finally do it well already and have some finished, or B. Ultra Magnus. Magnaboss and Tripredacus, I’d rather see reissues of. I’m not sure about the quality of the remakes, although they could both be improved.

I wonder if two packs of Trainbots could be made at the Leader price.

Everything is an improvement over CW Menasor.

No, this is not the case.
Getting a toy based on animation’s frequent misinterpretation of Menasor’s design, where rather than actually being combined…the smaller Stunticons are stuck in swollen Motormaster limbs as if they were Mini-Cons … That would be just as shitty, just in a different way.
And given that Drag Strip splits in two, I’m afraid that’s where we’re headed.

It’s or it’s a clumsy new system where you have to split the numbers in half and the pieces form in the combination joint. And of course they messed things up by getting rid of the perfectly good CW hookup system.

Do you own CW Menasor? This thing is awful

Yes. Well, sort of – Wildrider, Dragstrip and Breakdown are all repainted Autobots because eBay prices on actual members can go . And yes, it is, because the torso mold was designed more like an Optimus Prime than a torso.
And I repeat that Bad Animation Menasor would be also horrible, just in a different way. I want real improvement, not trade one set of f***ups for another set of f***ups

From what I remember seeing, I don’t recall anyone thinking that future combiners should use the same combiner system as this new Menasor (assuming that ends up being what most think ).
It really wouldn’t work for other teams.

CW Menasor was no good… Perhaps the worst if the lot.
But I also don’t know what people would expect for this new version.
Clearly screen/cartoon accuracy has been a priority.
The other thing is that when people say they would like something new and different, that’s fine, but expecting it to happen seems unreasonable and unrealistic.
You could say that the CW version was new… It looked different while having many visual elements from the original.
And a lot of people have hated it since it came out.

So I’m optimistic about this Legacy offering.
I hope Hastak took all the necessary cues to make it a solid set.
And I think it will.
Of course, if you never liked Menasor’s design to begin with, save $200 and don’t bother.

I’m looking forward to this guy because I want more disappointments, and I like his G1 looks.
